Sooz of Being Tea smelling steeped tea leaves

How does it work? The Tasting Box Club is a monthly guided tasting class, with a curated box of seasonal teas shipped to your home. Never a random sampler, these are all selected for educational themes that support folks in deepening their own tea life and practice.

You can join for 12 months, 6 months, or 3 months. This gives me time to plan out what we’ll be doing each season and create something special for everyone throughout the year.

This program opens up just once a year – Autumn is the only time that folks can reserve a spot for the next year. Note: we typically sell out by early October

What’s special about Being Tea Tasting Box Club?

Seasonal and Intentional Teas
The focus for each box is on teas that are appropriate for the season, both from a tea freshness and personal energetic / mood perspective. These are teas to help you consider your deeper interests and seasonal needs throughout the year. Every theme is super intentional, so you’re never receiving just random teas. Each box also waters little seeds of knowledge from previous boxes.

Tea-Focused Monthly Class
Each box includes a beautiful guided tasting and journaling card, a printed newsletter about your teas and our theme for the month, and an interactive online group class. The class is also recorded, too, if you can’t join us live. In 2025, some of our box themes have included: GABA-rich teas to help us practice calm; teas that teach us about delicate brewing; lesser known economically accessible teas; autumn tea vs spring tea comparison; exploring cultivar differences across regions.

Accessible Sample Sizes
The amount of tea in each box is reasonable to enjoy within a month or so, as well. Expect 3-4 teas, 5-8g each. We’ll have some tea together in class, and then you have leftover for another serving or two later on your own. Plus bonus samples and other treats throughout the seasons! I’m a fan of subscription programs that don’t overwhelm you with too much stuff that goes to waste.

Three Options to Join!
Subscriptions are available for 12 months ($340), 6 months ($210), or 3 months ($130). U.S. shipping is included! Also, if you sign up for 6 or 3 months, you can renew later to join us for the rest of the year, prorated to the lower amount of the 12-month program.

Canada friends, you can join, too! Shipping to Canada is $12 USD extra per month. Email me at hello@beingtea.com and I will send you a payment link. Folks in other locations: Due to high shipping costs, I can’t ship to you, sorry.

MOST POPULAR! 12 months for $340.
This rate equals $28.33 / mo.

Why you’ll love Being Tea’s Tasting Box Club

TEA IN SPOONS REVIEW: 4.5/5 Stars!

“All the draws to the Being Tea subscription box have held true for me. While the boxes stack on top of each other in terms of knowledge, I enjoy that each box is its own contained experience and exploration. The big win is the live sessions with the communiTEA, where I am not only learning from Sooz but sharing the same tea with everyone else! I really enjoy Sooz’s guidance as they provide a lot of insight and tips.”

– Connie, creator of Tea in Spoons

A little about me: I’ve worked in tea professionally for 20 years, tasted literally thousands of teas, and, well… I know good tea by this point. (read more)

I spent over 10 years as a tea competition judge, in the U.S. and internationally, evaluating teas from all over the world. All categories and seasons and evolution of style. I’ve traveled to tea gardens and factories throughout Asia and learned from amazingly talented and wise producers.

In my work as an education director, I’ve worked on the importing and wholesale side of tea, managing and consulting on tea programs, sourcing, and blend creation. My main job in tea is a teacher and trainer. Being an educator as a primary profession is very rare in this industry.

More personally, I’m a very curious and open minded taster and my colleagues have always respected me for that reason. I appreciate the classics, and I also love to champion teas from origins less well known. Tea is a dear plant friend and teacher for me, and I sharing tea with others means so much to me. You’re in good hands here!

When do teas ship each month and when is our tasting class?

I ship everyone’s tea around the first of each month, and you’ll receive an email with your tracking info. Our group tasting class is nearly always on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1pm CDT. I also include a printed reminder inside each box, plus I send an email earlier in the week with the Zoom link, too.

Are the classes recorded if I can’t join live sometimes?

Yep, I record all of the Tasting Box Club sessions, and I email out the video shortly after we conclude each month. You can view the sessions anytime on a private page accessible for Tasting Box Club subscribers.

Can I extend for the rest of the year, if I joined for 6 or 3 months at first?

Absolutely! I’ll send a renewal notice for folks on the shorter plans about a month ahead of time, although you can really let me know whenever. And your renewal rate is based against the lower 12-month rate, so you save money renewing, too.

Are these teas caffeinated?

Yes, they are all caffeinated. Every tea in the Tasting Boxes contains varying amounts of caffeine. These are teas from the traditional “tea plant” (Camellia sinensis) – not herbal teas or other botanical blends, which is why they all have some caffeine. Sorry, I can’t make substitutions, as herbal teas are not my background expertise or specialty.

If I have a food allergy, can I participate in Tasting Box Club?

You sure can, although please note that I’m unable to accommodate for life-threatening allergies, as I do eat nuts and peanuts myself, and my tea studio is not certified allergen-free. Otherwise, for non-life threatening food or fragrance sensitivities, just let me know when you join, and I’ll make a note in your file.

We don’t commonly work with teas that have other ingredients; the very large majority of our featured teas are unblended, single origin teas. In instances of teas that have anything added (again, just a few times a year), they are traditional teas with flowers (magnolia, cherry blossom, etc) or spices.

If I need to change my mailing address, can I do that?

Of course, very easily. Just let me know anytime before the last day of each month. That part is really important, because once the tea ships, USPS charges a $25 redirect fee to send the package someplace else, and you would need to pay that fee. I’m also happy to keep alternative addresses on file for you, such as winter holiday or summer addresses, no problem.

Can I skip a month?

No, sorry, and that’s an important note to be aware of: I plan this program as a whole year offering, and it takes a LOT of logistics to pull it off. So that’s specifically why it’s only offered as a pre-paid commitment for a closed group, not a monthly drop-in program.

I can hold a package for you, though, in case of extended travel and you won’t be able to receive the tea. That’s no problem, just let me know in advance. I’ll then send both month’s shipments together the following month.

Are refunds available?

As a very small business, I’m unable to offer refunds. However, I really don’t think you would need one – Tasting Box Club has a super high renewal rate.

Can I gift a Tasting Box Club subscription?

Of course, that would be lovely! Just let me know and we’ll work out the details. The main thing is I need your recipient’s email (along with their mailing address, of course), as they will need to be able to receive info to join our tasting class and view the video each month.

Fun fact: About 90% of the folks who originally sign up for less than a year (the 3-month and 6-month plans) renew for the full year once their initial subscription expired. Also, our program has a year to year renewal rate of nearly 80%. It’s really that good!
