This listing is kept up to date with new trainees as well as program graduates. To graduate, each teacher must complete two practice workshops for the cohort: one Tea 101 beginner session and the other a capstone project class on a topic of their choosing.
SECOND GRADUATING CLASS – Graduating Spring 2021
Anna Ye is a tea educator and consultant in NYC. Her experience in tea includes working with the beloved In Pursuit of Tea for nearly 4 years, and previously, she worked in fine dining and hospitality. Anna is a lover of story and culture, and has hosted a series of interviews with tea community contributors called ‘Beyond the Cup’ as a means to illuminate greater understanding for the global story of tea. Nicole Wilson is the writer behind Tea For Me Please, an award-winning tea blog widely cited by peers as one of the most influential resources for tea information. Nicole has been a tea writer for over a decade, and also has extensive experience in tea industry as a retail manager and a tea industry consultant. Kimberly Richardson is a prolific writer of sci-fi and fantasy, a bibliophile, a public speaker at sci-fi conventions, and a storyteller through tea blends she creates for her company, Viridian Tea. Merv Clarke sees tea as a vehicle that can help us connect back to the earth and to our communities, through ceremony, ritual, and getting our minds and bodies creatively engaged again. He holds a certificate in sustainable leadership, where he worked on a project involving sustainable homes. Merv also competed in the 2019 Tea Masters Cup USA. FIRST GRADUATING CLASS – Graduated Autumn 2020
Emily Morrison is co-owner of The Steeping Room in Austin, Texas, and is Being Tea Teacher Training’s very first graduate! Emily has been working in the US tea industry since 2007, and is a big, BIG fan of dark tea (heicha). Her magical laugh and warm energy are an absolute joy and sure to make any beginner feel right at home with tea. Sabine Gullatz is a tea sommelier, trainer and consultant, certified through the UK Tea Academy. She is the UKTA trainer for Germany, where she lives, in Stuttgart. Sabine finds herself at home with beginners, where she connects most deeply to that sense of wonder and delight of seeing tea really come to life. Stephanie Samuels is the founder of Sutras Teas & Wellness, also in Austin, Texas. A classical Pilates instructor, yoga teacher, licensed massage therapist, and practitioner of MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), Stephanie combines her passion for wellness of the human body and heart with her love for tea.
