grey day, perfect time to open a fresh matcha. this treat comes from @theteacrane, in tyas's subscription service. each issue comes includes a really helpful info booklet, with a producer interview and details about the tea.
--
this particular producer chooses to make matcha in the spring, then beautiful black tea later, as opposed to making lower grade matcha in that second harvest. 🌱 this is quite interesting because he is choosing not only quality first (in both matcha and black tea), but also what is healthy for his plants. producing leaves for matcha is very intensive for the bushes, so rather than do it twice, they grow more naturally the rest of the year and a lovely black tea can be created. i adore this subscription 🥰
